It would be easy to turn Good News Monday into Goodwill Monday because to the team at Mikula|Harris they are synonymous. We have had the pleasure of working with Goodwill Industries of the Valleys in Roanoke for several years. Each time we collaborate on a project we learn something new about this multi-faceted and highly effective organization that is truly making a difference in people’s lives.

The latest project completed just last week is the 2011 Annual Report and it is filled with good news. The theme “Faces of Goodwill” is particularly appropriate because it reminds us that their mission is not about numbers and statistics – it’s about people. And the people profiled in this report are truly inspiring. Take a moment to look through the report and you will learn about people who overcame great obstacles to get back on their feet. That’s what Goodwill offers. They provide programs and tools that allow people to conquer all kinds of challenges and circumstances to become independent, productive and proud.

If you're like most people, when you hear Goodwill you think of the retail stores. The stores certainly play an important role in Goodwill's mission. They provide jobs and experience for lots of people while raising vital funds, but Goodwill does so much more. That's good news for people who need work, their families and the entire community.
