This is an inspiring story about a teenager who faced enormous obstacles — poverty, homelessness and abandonment — at much too young an age. That she worked hard and rose above it all to succeed in high school and earn a full scholarship to Harvard is nothing short of a miracle. It's not, however, why this story makes the Good News Monday blog.

Count, if you can, how many times in this story someone pitched in with an act of kindness. A guidance counselor drove the student 200 miles to participate in an advanced academic program. A bus driver took her into her home so she could stay in school and graduate. When she was offered a full ride at Harvard, the community once again came together to help her visit the university she had never seen but would soon be attending. The generosity of the American people appears to be limitless.
